Multnomah Falls is probably the most popular falls in Oregon.
They are located in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area just east of Portland. The link provides more detailed information about the area, along with maps and directions.
The falls are listed as a 620 foot drop divided into two sections. They are commonly cited as the second highest in the United States, behind Yosemite Falls.
Views of the falls are equally accessible to all visitors, and individuals can choose from a variety of sightseeing choices upon arrival.
The first choice, and probably the choice of the majority of visitors is to take an easy one-half mile hike to Benson Bridge, situated directly in front of the falls at the place dividing its two separate sections.
Individuals in moderate health might want to follow the trail another half-mile or so up the mountain to get a look at the falls from a top down perspective.
Those interested in a more strenuous hike might consider trying the Wahkeena Trail Loop. It is approximately a six mile hiking loop up and down the mountain that takes you past five different waterfalls and some spectacular views of the gorge.
If you start at Wahkenna Falls as the up hill portion of the hike, your trip to Multnomah falls is a refreshing two mile down hill hike past Ecola Falls and Weisendanger Falls.
