Miltoniopsis Orchids

Miltoniopsis orchid picture

Miltoniopsis are New World orchids, native to the tropical high and lowands of Central and South America.

Their long green leaves and flat, multi-color flowers, resemble pansies, giving them their nickname, Pansy Orchids. The waterfall or paint splotched marks on the sepals also characterize many species.

They are considered one of the higher maintentance orchid types. Household plants require above average humidity and are susceptible to spider mites.

Many species have flowers that bloom for one to two months. They are generally not popular cut flowers.
