Jelly Mushrooms

Jelly mushrooms are a large class of mushrooms, held together by a common jellylike appearance.

The top picture shows the apricot jelly mushroom (Phlogiotis helvelloides), a very common ground growing mushroom in conifer forests.

They are listed as edible, but not considered very tasty.

A couple of jelly species resemble the jelly mushroom in the second picture. They literally look like a blob of orange jelly sitting on a tree stump.

These species are very common in the winter and fall, especially after rain.

The Halloween Mushrooms also describes a jelly species.
