The Peninsular Range is a coastal chain of mountains that extends from Southern California, south to the tip of Baja, Mexico.
The picture was taken at the Anza Borrego Desert State Park, and it shows the lightly landscaped, rocky slopes, a perfect setting for one of the mountain's long time residents, Peninsular bighorn sheep.
The area sits between the coastal plain of San Diego to the west and the low land of the Salton Sea and Colorado Desert to the east.
