Mount Hood Summit

picture of Mount Hood taken from Trillium Lake

Located about sixty miles east of Portland, OR, Mount Hood is the largest mountain in the state.

It's a dormant volcano with the potential to erupt, although its eruption time range can span anywhere from a hundred to a thousand years.

Today Mount Hood is enjoyed as a constant visual background scene for Portlanders, as well as a hiking, skiiing and general recreation area.

The top picture shows the mountain's moodiness from the perspective of Trillium Lake. Weather patterns can change quickly, turing a sunny day on the mountain into a cloudy day in a matter of moments.

The bottom picture shows the Mount Hood Summit and was taken during optimal light conditions.
