Whether it's news of a shrinking Mount Everest, or the views of tree or snow-capped peaks, mountains grab people's attention.

More than mere rocks piled upon rocks, or volcanoes long past their prime, mountains are considered cultural, spiritual and/or entertainment gems of a region.

The Western United States is home to mountain ranges formed under a variety of geological circumstances, and situated in a variety of climates.

This album presents a representative sample of Western Mountains, accompanied by some commentary regarding their geological and natural features.

Additional mountains are included, and currently they are limited to those on the Indian subcontinent.
