Jeffrey's Shooting Star (Dodecatheon jeffreyi), also known as the Sierra Shooting Star, is one of approximately a dozen shooting star species found in the Western United States.

Jeffrey's is a mountain species that grows prolifically in wet meadows.

The picture shows the flower's characteristic purple backward bending petals.
