The White-lined Sphinx Moth (Hyles lineata) is one of the many hummingbird moths in the Sphinx moth family (Sphingidae).
They inhabit a variety of areas across the United States. They are primarily nocturnal although they can sometimes be found flying and nectaring during the day.
Like all Sphinx moths, they are characterized by stout bodies that taper at the end. Their wings are a colorful pink and brown mix, with a distinct white line across the wings and white lines along the thorax.
It is always a treat to see one hovering around the flowers.
