The California Sea Lion (Zalophus californianus) can be considered a warm water marine mammal.

They breed on coastal areas around California, in the warmer waters of the Pacific Ocean.

During nonbreeding season, they are known to migrate north up to Alaska in search of food.

You often see and hear them gathered in large groups. They are very vocal and are known to bark up a real storm.
