The Mariposa Copper (Lycaena mariposa) is a hardy northern species, found in both lower and higher elevations from Southern Alaska to the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rocky Mountains.

The contrasting orang (top) and gray (bottom) bottom wings, seen in the top picture, also make is a fairly easy copper to identify.

Look for it in areas with high density heath plants such as blueberry bushes and heather.
