Behr's Hairstreak (Satyrium behrii) is one of approximately twenty different species in the Satyrium genus of hairstreaks.

Many, but not all Satyrium caterpillars feed on oak leaves, Behr's is one of the exceptions to the generalizatrion.

They are western butterflies with a range extending from east of the Cascade and Sierra Nevada mountains to the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains.
