picture of a Six-lined Racerunner lizard

The Six-lined Racerunner (Cnemidophorus sexlineatus), one of the more common and wide ranging whiptail species, ranges from the East to the Midwest, including Texas.

The name speaks to the physical characteristics of the species. The dark body is covered with six light colored stripes. They tend to scamper quickly whenever approached.
