Clark's Spiny Lizard

Clark's Spiny Lizard

The Clark's Spiny Lizard is a native of southern Arizona. Like all spiny lizards, they are characterized by their pointed spiny scales.

The black bands around the wrist are one common way to identify the Clark's Spiny Lizard.

They are not particularly shy lizards. The one in the picture ran toward me and took a defensive pose as I took the picture. You also find them basking in the sun on rocks.

Their diet consists primarily of insects in their territory.
