Clark's Spiny Lizard

Like all spiny lizards, members of the Sceloporus genus such as the Desert Spiny Lizard, they are characterized by their pointed spiny scales.
The black bands around the wrist are one common way to identify the Clark's Spiny Lizard.
They are not particularly shy lizards. The one in the picture ran toward me and took a defensive pose when photographed. They are also easily found basking in the sun on rocks.
Their diet consists primarily of insects in their territory.
