The Flame Skimmer (Libellula saturata) is a bright red dragonfly of the Western United States.

Because of the abundance of red color meadowhawk species found in the West, field identification of the Flame Skimmer can be tricky.

Flame skimmers are red, without other markings, from the tip of the nose to the bottom of the abdomen. Half of the wings are also red, with red veins.
