Red Catchfly or Red Campion (Silene dioica) is a member of the Pink or Carnation family (Caryophyllaceae).
Native to Europe, it is now established in both gardens and in the wild throughout the northern portion of the United States.
They typically bloom in late spring and the five heavily notched pink petals serve as a good field identification clue.
