Periwinkle

Periwinkle (Vinca minor) is a native European plant in the Dogbane family (Apocynaceae).

The plant is traditionally used as ground cover in southern states from coast to coast.

Leaves stay evergreen throughout the year, and small five sided flowers bloom annually. The leaves are toxic, making them unwanted to rabbits and other potential herbivores in the area.

While the plant grows without much difficulty, it does tend to spread out beyond its initial territory, so occasional pruning is often recommended.
