Grape Hyacinth

picture of a grape hyacinth flower

Grape Hyacinth are small perennial spring bloomers in the lily family (Liliaceae).

Originally introduced from Europe, they are bulb plants that easily regenerate in an area once established. In a few instances they have been defined as invasive plants.

Many of the species grow low to the ground. Their small clusters of grape shaped petals stand out when situated at the garden's edge.

It is a very adaptable plant, found growing in northern and southern states.
