Echeveria

picture of an echeveria succulent, hen and chicks

Echeveria are a group of succulent plants in the family Crassulaceae, with all but one species in the United States introduced from Mexico and areas south to Argentina.

Like all succulents, they are very easy to grow as indoor or outdoor plants, as long as they receive ample sunlight.

Many of the echeveria species go by the common name, hen and chickens. They grow in a shape that resembles saucer plants, having multiple leaves that create interesting geometrical patterns.

Without being absolutely certain, the picture looks to show an Echeveria imbricata, a species known for the red edges on the leaves.
