Crocus

picture of a crocus flower

Crocus are flowering plants in the iris family, native to Europe and Asia.

Their popularity can be traced back over thousands of years with both Biblical and Ancient Greek references. Over the years, their popularity has not waned and they now represent a sure signal of spring in gardens around the world.

Depending on the species, a garden of crocus can bloom as early as February in some areas, adding a cheerful patch of purple, yellow or white to their domain, even if it is snow covered.
