Pacific Fritillary

picture of a top view of a Pacific fritillary butterfly

The Pacific Fritillary (Boloria epithore) is a common smaller fritillary, found along the West Coast and Northern Rocky Mountains areas.

The top picture does not show size, however, the wing span measures less than two inches, and the wings are bordered by a series of dark triangular and dot markings.

The bottom picture shows a typical side view. The characteristic silver spots associated with fritillaries are relegated to the bottom portion of the bottom wing.
