The Heartleaf Hibiscus (Hibiscus cardiophyllus) is a very hardy Hibiscus species native to the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

It grows low to the ground in both sun and partial shade settings.

The large, red flower, which blooms from summer through fall, attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.
