Golden Columbine

picture of a golden columbine flower

Golden Columbine (Aquilegia chrysantha), a native plant of the Southwest, is one of a handful of native yellow Columbine species.

The large, all yellow flowers are complimented with long pointed spurs.

As a garden plant, it is very adaptable, growing in USDA zones 3-8.

All members of the Aquilegia genus of the buttercup family are colorful and popular garden plants. Compare the yellow specimen with the red (Western), blue and purple varieties listed in the box on the left.
