Golden Brodiaea

picture of a Pretty Face or Golden Brodiaea flower

One look at the flower in the top picture explains both of Triteleia ixioides common names, Golden Brodiaea and Pretty Face.

They are one of approximately fifteen different Triteleia species native to the Western United States, with White Brodiaea another example of the genera.

Golden Brodiaea ranges throughout much of California into Southern Oregon. They prefer moist forest soils and they grow at both lower and higher elevations.
