The Encelia, or brittlebush, are a small genus of flowering plants in the Asteraceae family native to the Southewst.

Generally the plants are characterized as medium sized bushes with yellow flower heads.

The California Brittlebush (Encelia californica) is a fairly large and bushy plant that grows along the Southern California Coastal sage scrub. It is also called a Coast Sunflower.
