Flowers of Cone Peak Meadows and Trail

picture of Cone Peak and wildflowers in Cone Peak Meadows

Cone Peak Trail, part of a trail system in the Central Oregon Cascades, is known for its biodiveristy.

With over three hundred different plant species identified in the area, on any given summer day, a short hike along the trail brings the possibility of seeing a couple dozen different species.

By mid-summer, winter snows have melted, turning the higher altitude environment more growth friendly for the early flowering plants of the valleys such as Trillium.

Other colorful blooming plants such as columbine, tiger lilies and paintbrush grow abundantly along the trail's path.

Closer to the top of the trail, natural rock gardens filled with flowers, provide excellent examples that can be duplicated for back yard rock gardens.

The ten listed flowers on the right show some of the more showy flowers found along the path and in the meadow at the top of the trail. The top picture shows a picture of Cone Peak meadow filled with flowers in bloom, with Cone Peak serving as the background.

The link to Mountain Flowers points to another section of flowers found growing along many West Coast mountain areas.
