Morning Glory Prominent Caterpillar

picture of the caterpillar for the Morning Glory Prominent Moth

Caterpillars in the Prominent Moth family (Notodontidae) are best known for their hairless, colorful bodies.

The Morning Glory Prominent Moth caterpillar (Schizura ipomoeae) in the picture fits the general family description. A green neck with a variety of stripe patterns from head to toe highlight the species.

They are generalized feeders, adaptable to many local shrubs and trees, as such, their range extends from coast to coast.
