Suillus Lakei

The wet cap, larger than average pores and dots on the stipe (stem) serve as good field identification clues.
The picture shows Suillus Lakei, an unusual species in the fact that the cap is a dry reddish color.
They are one of a couple of Suillus species that grow in association with Douglas Fir trees. During fall, they can pop up in bunches.
The edibility of any suillus species, slime cap or not, receives little support from experts. Take a picture, it will last longer.
