Gilled Bolete (Phylloporus rhodoxanthus)

The Gilled Bolete (Phylloporus rhodoxanum) is the exception to the rule that bolete mushrooms are mushrooms with pores.

A handful of Phylloporusgenus species grow in the United States, some bruise blue, others do not. The bottom picture shows the blue bruise on the bright yellow gills. It took time (a couple of minutes at least) for the bruise to develop.
