Western Polemonium

picture of Western Polemonium flower

Western Polemonium (Polemonium occidentale) is one of approximately a dozen species of Jacob's Ladder native to the Western United States.

Many of these species have petals with shades of blue or purple. The white center, yellow anthers and extended pistil serve as good field identification clues for the Western Polemonium.

They grow along stream sides and wet meadows in mid to higher elevation locations. Depending on their specific growing location, they can bloom throughout the summer months.
