Fairy Bells

picture of hooker's fairy bells

Fairy Bells are common woodland plants in the lily family that are found on both the East and West Coasts.

Hooker's Fairy Bells (Disporum hookeri) are West Coast native plants that also go by the name drops of gold.

The plant grows about two feet tall on a hardy stem that branches out for leaves and flowers.

Their small and delicate looking flowers bloom in spring, producing red berries in the summer. Information regarding the plant's toxicity is sketchy, and there is little history of its use as food.
