Asian Small-clawed Otter

Three different Aonyx species inhabit the shallow waterways of the world, two in Africa and one, the Asian Small-clawed Otter, in Southeast and South Central Asia.
Their dietary preference leans toward crab. When not available, they hunt a range of invertebrates in their territory such as mollusks, fish, insects and amphibians.
The IUCN lists them as a vulnerable species, with habitat loss, and secondarily loss of prey, serving as the key factors placing stress on the populations.
The picture highlights their relatively small claws (compared to other otters).
