The Bat-eared Fox (Otocyon megalotis) is a short, stocky fox indigenous to the grasslands of Eastern and Southern Africa.
It is the only member of the Otocynon genus. However, like other fox species, it leads a solitary life, with single families denning and living in a small territory hunting local small rodents, birds and reptiles.
The picture highlights the animal's extra large ears.
