Greening Your iPod: Climate Change Tip

Are you a politically aware gadget nut, supporting efforts such as Raise Hope for Congo, and still looking for other ways to green your iPod?

If so, welcome, and here's one quick iPod greening tip.

For convenience sake, let's consider that the world consists of two types of hikers.

The natural hiker, type one, walks and absorbs the sights and sounds of the world around him or her. The iPod hiker, type two, walks and absorbs the sights and/or sounds of the iPod attached to his or her ears.

If you're an iPod hiker, consider altering your hiking routine by downloading climate change broadcasts.

NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, for example, produces short (2-5 minutes) and professional video podcasts covering climate change that do not take up much space on your device and can easily be shared with friends. They can be directly downloaded from the NASA Podcast center.

For iPod hikers with longer attention spans, a variety of additional audio and video podcasts can be found around the internet. For example, typing the word "podcast" into the search section of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change UNFCCC website brings up all of their offerings.

Getting any of these items onto your iPod is easy. Click on the video link. A small link above the video with the words, "download this video" will appear. If the video does not download to your iTunes library, you can easily drag and drop it into your iPod from the download folder.

Sync your iPod with your iTunes program, and then check the relevant iPod audio and video folders to insure that the material is ready to play.
