Sea Worms

picture of a sea worm at low tide

Worms are among the most adaptable creatures in the world, found on both land and sea.

Because they are not picky eaters, sea worms are found in every ocean environment, from coastal edges to the deepest ocean depths.

Like their terrestial relatives, they consume most plant and animal matter they encounter in ther travels through the sand. One recently discovered species was found living on whale bone.

Unlike their terrestial relatives, they take a variety of shapes and colors. Many species are visible on sandy beaches and in rocky tidepools during low tide.
